Zahid - A Future Army Lawyer
After he collected his diploma today, he plans to enlist in the NC Army National Guard and attend UNC Charlotte.
“I see myself serving in the Army as a JAG lawyer or a civilian lawyer,” explains Zahid.
Zahid says his favorite CIS activity was visiting college campuses like UNC Pembroke with his student support specialists, and adds he appreciates the advice and support from several CIS staff members over the years. Zahid was closest to Mr. Or Caduri and Mr. Jose Herrera.
“When I personally talked to them, they each had their own story to tell of how they got to this point in their lives. Each one of them helped motivate me: one motivating me to start the process of military service, and the other to continue my education to make my stand in my culture,” said Zahid.
“Zahid is the hardest working student that I have come across in the four years that I have worked in Pender County. He is always respectful, optimistic, and driven to succeed. His character and resilience to overcome his physical and environmental challenges is inspirational,” said Mr. Herrera.
One of the things Zahid says he is most proud of in his high school career was his physical fitness improvement. Zahid was on crutches his freshman year, but with hard work and discipline, he went from a 15-minute mile to a 6:26 mile, and a 34-minute 5K to a 23-minute 5K.
“I will miss working and conversing with Zahid. He will truly be missed. I mean what I say, there is no harder worker and student than Zahid,” said Mr. Herrera.
Zahid says he hopes to change the world “By representing my country, parents, and name as a professional and a leader of the community in career and faith.”
We know he’s well on his way! Congratulations, Zahid! 🎓
