WEDDINGS AT PORT CITY
Congratulations on your engagement! This is an exciting time for you. We're glad you've chosen to make your vows before God in a Christian ceremony. Even as you prepare for the ceremony, we are already looking ahead to your marriage. Marriage is God’s idea and he has designed it to be a life-long context for sacrificial love between a man and woman, for his glory to be expressed.
Our culture can be unfriendly to marriage. The stresses and pressures of life, coupled with a lack of support and low expectations, have led to so many disappointments. We believe the church should be a source of strength to your marriage as you prepare for it and then long into the future. We fight for marriages!
There are conversations you can have now that will help your marriage get off to a good start and to thrive long term. To facilitate these conversations, we have developed a Premarital Mentoring program. If you want a Port City pastor to officiate, we will ask you to complete these mentoring sessions; a mentor or mentor couple will be provided to you at no cost.
The conversation topics are all very practical but the purpose of each one is to encourage faithfulness to Christ in your life together. In marriage, you will be leading one another. If you have children, you will be leading them. And the Bible says your marriage should be a picture to the world of Christ’s relationship with his church. So an important first step will be for each of you to affirm your faith in Jesus* before your wedding day. Your premarital mentors can help with this.
Premarital Mentoring will look a little different depending on which campus you attend. A campus representative can give you more details. We ask you to begin the process about six months before your planned wedding date.
If you're ready to get started now, please complete the Wedding Request Form below. Once we receive your information, we’ll contact you about next steps.
Again, congratulations!
