OUR REACH

Mobilization & Missions at Port City

For us, the meaning of REACH is tied to the question: Who are we willing to care about? The work of the Church is meant to be expressive: a selfless and abundant outpouring of the love we receive from Jesus. At Port City, we support service providers, empower indigenous leadership, and show up as students of our world and its needs, starting right here at home. Use the links below to learn more about each of our partners and how you can participate in what the Lord is doing.

GET INVOLVED

Check out our upcoming educational and service opportunities below!

SERVE YOUR CITY: True discipleship is most natural and impactful when we participate right where God has called us to live. We are passionate about encouraging the Church to not just serve in our community, but to consistently be present in the same place over time. In doing so, we get the opportunity to build lasting, mutual relationships with all members of our city. Our partners offer opportunities throughout the week, so click below to see all the ways you can participate!

ENCOUNTER THE CITY: Once a month, we host a 4 hour immersive tour of Wilmington with the intent of being students of our city and its needs. From visiting multiple neighborhoods, eating an authentic meal from a non-western restaurant, and meeting with local partners, our 'Encounter the City' tour creates space for encounters that we hope will change the way we see Wilmington and our role in bringing the Gospel to bear in it. It is a short, but truly impactful experience! Register below to see available dates!

HURRICANE HELENE RESPONSE: We’ve committed to a long-term approach that will see our neighbors in Western NC back on their feet and flourishing. Their communities are filled with hard-working and resourceful people who know the needs of their communities better than we do, so we are leaning into their wisdom to discern what is actually helpful to their communities. Our long-term approach will include many facets, the first of which has been to partner well with organizations who are on the ground in the affected areas and are equipped well for disaster response. ENCOUNTER TEAM // ADULTS: An Encounter Team is a body of believers united to learn from, serve, and encourage our partners that God has placed around the globe. We believe that the Lord wants to use the full Encounter Team process (preparation, cultural immersion, and debriefing) to form and shape team members more into His image. More than just a week-long trip, we hope for participation in an Encounter Team to be immersive and challenging as team members are stretched to know Jesus and His Kingdom more holistically.

***Next Year’s Encounter Teams will be released in January 2025
