Garnett - A 2023 High School Graduate

Garnett enjoys fishing, working on cars and learning about mechanics. After high school, he plans on continuing his education in college and eventually joining the military. As he plans his next step, Garnett says he appreciates the hand his CIS staff had in getting him here.

“They helped me finish school strong and helped me prepare for what’s coming next in my life, college,” Garnett said of his CIS Student Support Specialists, Mr. Rudy DeAza and Ms. Melissa Miller at Pender High School. “[I’ll always remember] all of the conversations we had. I really enjoyed talking to them. They were always there when I needed them.”

“Garnett has been really great to have in afterschool. He was always really easy to work with and talk to. We have no doubt that his desire to grow and continue to get better will help him become his best self and a great man. We are glad to have had him be a part of CIS,” said Mr. Rudy DeAza.
