Derald (“DB”) - A Charismatic Creative

This week, we’re proud to [re]introduce Hoggard High School Senior Derald (or “DB” as his friends call him!) You might recognize him from a spotlight five years ago when he was a participant in our WIRE Afterschool program!

Derald enjoys dance and filmmaking, and says his favorite part of going to school is being able to learn something new and seeing his friends. According to his CIS Student Support Specialist, Bonnie Harris, one of his best qualities is his awesome sense of humor!

“DB is an amazing person with a captivating personality. He is kind, smart, funny, and the true definition of a leader. I am so honored to spend time mentoring such an outgoing person," said CIS Student Support Specialist Bonnie Harris. "He continues to impress me. He is very mature in the way he thinks and presents his thoughts. His humor is unmatched and you are guaranteed to laugh anytime he is around. He carries a light that shines so bright, I see him doing great things in the future!"

“Ms. Bonnie has helped me stay on top of my work, making sure I do all the scholarships that I can, making sure I come to school every day so I won't mess up the future,” said DB. “She is always there when we need her, just a call away, she is always on my head about school things when my head is not there.”

In the future, he sees himself becoming a filmmaker. “I would also like to star in my films, I would love to be a content creator and show the world a big change in things,” added DB.
