Stepping into the Unknown
By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he left, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8
Insight
Ever felt like you're on the edge of something big, but fear and uncertainty are holding you back? Trust me, you're not alone. Abraham, one of the heroes of our faith, was called by God to leave everything he knew and go to a place he’d never seen. And guess what? He obeyed and went, even though he had no idea where he was going.
Faith isn’t about seeing the whole journey; it’s about trusting the One who calls you to step into the unknown.
Think of a hiker at the beginning of a trail that winds up a mountain. The path is rugged, and the summit is hidden in the clouds. The hiker doesn’t have a detailed map of every twist and turn. Instead, they trust the trail markers and the guide’s expertise. That’s the kind of trust God is asking from us. He’s saying, “Just start walking, I’ll show you the way.”
Taking the first step can be terrifying. Fear of the unknown is a real thing. We crave certainty and control, but God’s call often comes with a hefty dose of uncertainty. That’s where faith kicks in. It’s about believing that God’s got your back even when you can’t see the next step.
So what does that first step of faith look like for you? Maybe it’s starting a conversation with someone about Jesus. Perhaps it’s forgiving someone who hurt you deeply. It could even be something as simple as starting a new morning routine to spend more time with God. Whatever it is, that first step is crucial.
Reflect on it. Pray about it. Write it down. Then, take action. It doesn’t have to be a giant leap. Sometimes, the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life.
Overcoming fear and uncertainty starts with focusing on God’s promises rather than the unknowns. Remember, God never asks us to walk alone. He promises to be with us every step of the way and surrounds us with people to support us along the journey. So when fear creeps in, remind yourself of His faithfulness in your life and in the lives of those who have gone before you.

How can you overcome fear and uncertainty to follow God's call?
Prayer
Dear God, give me the courage to take the first step of faith, even when the path is unclear. Help me to trust that you are leading me and that your plans are good. I surrender my fears and uncertainties to you. Guide me, strengthen me, and help me to walk boldly in faith. Amen.
