Adding Brushstrokes

For we are co-workers in God’s service;you are God’s field, God’s building. 1 Corinthians 13:9

Insight

Imagine waking up each day with the awareness that you are not just living your life but participating in something bigger than yourself. This is the invitation God extends to us: to be co-workers in His divine plan. Paul captures this beautifully in 1 Corinthians 3:9 Today’s verse is not just a statement; it's a calling. It’s a reminder that our walk with God is not a solo journey but a collaborative effort fueled by His grace.

Think about it: the Creator of the universe invites us to join Him in His work. It's like a master artist asking an apprentice to add brushstrokes to a masterpiece. Our contributions might seem small, but they are vital parts of the larger picture. We are not working for God from a distance; we are working with Him, intimately involved in His mission to redeem and restore the world.

To walk with God means to be attentive to where He is already moving and to join Him there. It requires a shift in perspective, from seeing our faith as a personal endeavor to recognizing it as a partnership. God doesn’t call us to strive in our strength but to rely on His grace, which enables us to participate in His work, transforming our ordinary actions into holy contributions.

Look around you. Where do you see God at work? Maybe it’s in the kindness of a neighbor, the resilience of a friend going through a tough time, or the beauty of creation. God’s fingerprints are everywhere. Our task is to notice and then step in with the gifts and talents He has given us. Each of us has a unique role to play. Your compassion, your creativity, your ability to listen or organize—all these are tools God can use to further His kingdom.

So, how can you join in God's work today? Start by asking Him to open your eyes to His activity around you. Be willing to step out in faith, even if it feels small or insignificant. Remember, it’s not about the size of the task but the heart behind it. God’s grace equips you to make a difference right where you are.

Reflection

  • How do you see God working around you, and how can you join in that work?

  • What gifts and talents has God given you to contribute to His mission?

Prayer

Lord, thank you for the privilege of being a co-worker in your service. Help me to see where you are at work and give me the grace to join in. Use my gifts for your glory and the furthering of your kingdom. Amen.
