Declaring

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Mathew 17:20

Insight

I’m not very techy. My young adult children scoff at my outdated iPod that houses my favorite playlists versus the newer streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.

I keep my iPod handy because I love music. I love to sing. It’s one of my favorite expressions of worship.

Recently I had the opportunity to be by myself for a 2-hour drive following a VitalLink transport of my husband from Novant Medical to Duke Hospital. Have you ever had an unexpected road trip surrounded by stress and angst? We knew David was going to be transported; we just didn’t know when. 

So when we got the word that transport was ready, I was grateful for the planner in me for having already packed a bag  (or two - you never know what you might need when away from home for some unknown amount of time :)   I was ready to go.

It was almost 10 pm and the adrenaline was pumping through me with hopeful anticipation for Duke’s help for David’s unusual and severe autoimmune reaction.

My daughter showed me how to Bluetooth my favorite worship playlist through the car, so I sang at the top of my lungs the entire road trip. There is something so calming about declaring the wonderful truths and promises of God in a melody. It embeds a peace that transcends all understanding. Fear and doubt fade into the abyss of the darkness that surrounds them.

God met me right there in the car that night and has continued to enrobe me with His presence through this lengthy, uncertain circumstance. It is an unexpected, unwanted circumstance, but it is also an opportunity to practice a faith that can move a mountain from here to there.

I’m not really familiar with mustard seeds, but I’ve been told they are quite small. Isn’t it marvelous to ponder the astounding grace of our God! He can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine with even the smallest of what we have to offer. 

God is a God of patterns; seasons are part of His design. I am learning to be watchful and expectant of God. To yield everything to Him daring to believe He knows exactly what is going on and has a plan to use it for His glory and my good.

With an iPod in hand and a heart prepared to worship, I will sing of His goodness all the days of my life. He is faithful and good ALWAYS.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come before you with a heart filled with gratitude for the unexpected ways you reveal your presence. Thank you for the simple joys, like the melody of worship that brings peace amid uncertainty. As I navigate through this challenging circumstance, help me cultivate a faith that can move mountains, trusting in your ability to work wonders even with the smallest offerings of my life. May I remain watchful and expectant of your patterns and seasons, singing of your goodness with a heart prepared to worship, for you are faithful and good always. Amen.
