The other day I was scrolling through Facebook when a shared post from a friend caught my eye. It came from one of those "frugal" sites and boasted of a savings trick that could turn pennies into Christmas presents. Being a fool for click-bait articles, I followed the link, even though I was highly skeptical of the claims.
The challenge is pretty straightforward. Save a penny on Day 1, two cents on Day 2, and keep this up for a year and watch the funds rise. At the end of 365 days, you'll have $667.95 in your piggy bank. I checked the chart for those doubting if it's some funny internet math, and the numbers line up.
A small act can have a significant impact. Making those little investments consistently compound over time and begin to add up. Imagine applying this savings principle with a different currency, one we have an unlimited supply of - Christ's love.
Often, many of us (myself included) are stingy when it comes to displaying service, humility, and love because we doubt it will make a noticeable difference. Our "few pennies" won't matter in the grand scheme of things. Or, we wait for meaningful opportunities to present themselves, thinking when they show up, we'll jump into action, be generous, and make a significant contribution.
In the meantime, we squander our energy, time, and resources by selfishly splurging on ourselves.
Every day we have an opportunity to do small acts of kindness, display His heart to the world, love boldly, and be the CHURCH. Don't underestimate this donation. When we serve others, we invest in their heart and well-being. The interest that compounds through our actions not only funds another's soul but grows our faith and understanding of God.
Keeping up the habit does something within us. Over time, a windfall of Christ's character gets deposited into our own. I'm not a financial expert, but that seems like a worthwhile savings tool.

God, let me be generous with Your love. Remind me that my heart transforms when I'm willing to make small investments in it through serving others. Regardless of the size of the opportunity, let me faithfully step into the ones You present to me today. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
