2025: Honesty, Dreams, and Surrender

Isaiah 43:19

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Proverbs 16:3

"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."

Your dreams for 2025 matter, and that’s why you need to put them down on paper. Some of your hopes and dreams feel exciting. Others feel vulnerable. The point isn't to have it all figured out. The point is to be fully present. Fully honest. This is about transparency. Raw, unfiltered conversation with God. No masks. No performance. Just you—with all your hopes, fears, potential, and limitations. Be honest about what you're really hoping for, what you're afraid of, where you feel stuck, what feels impossible, and where you need breakthrough. Some dreams will happen exactly as you imagine. Others will look completely different. Some will be delayed. Some will be deleted. Some will be dramatically upgraded.

There's something powerful about naming your hopes out loud, about bringing your most vulnerable dreams into the light—not to control them, but to surrender them. This moment of reflection is about radical honesty. It's standing before God with everything—the dreams for the upcoming year that excite you, the hopes that terrify you, the aspirations you've barely allowed yourself to whisper. The goal isn't perfect execution. The goal is faithful participation. It's showing up with your whole heart. It's being willing to pivot. It's trusting that God's plans are always better than your best plans.

What if surrender isn't about giving up, but about showing up? What if it's less about losing your dreams and more about allowing God to reshape them into something more meaningful than you could have imagined? Your willingness to let go is actually the doorway to greater purpose and an act of trust that transforms everything. Surrender doesn't mean sitting passively. It means moving forward with open hands. Working hard. Staying faithful. But always—always—holding your dreams lightly enough that God can move them.

Your most powerful spiritual moments will come when your deepest hopes meet God's unexpected grace. When your hard work collides with divine opportunity. When your honest conversation becomes a doorway to transformation. 2025 is an invitation. An invitation to dream boldly. To hope honestly. To surrender completely. To trust deeply. This is your year of radical transparency. Of courageous hope. Of surrendered potential.

Now, take some time to articulate your hopes and dreams for the year to come. Think of the questions below as prompts to get you started. Don’t feel the pressure to answer every one, but challenge yourself to be honest and open with God about your vision for 2025:

  • What dreams have been stirring in your heart that you've been hesitant to acknowledge?

  • How would you describe what God is awakening within your heart as you head into a new year?

  • What is the “new thing” you hope God does in your life in the year to come?

After reflecting on these questions, write out a prayer expressing your hopes and dreams for the year to come, but declaring a willingness to lay down 2025 at His feet and let His will be done.
