TI CLASSROOM & STAGE VOLUNTEERS
Working with kids is exciting, silly, fun, and sometimes exhausting! We provide resources to equip YOU to lead well in your classrooms or on stage. You work directly with the children to create a consistent environment for them. In the SGL role, you serve weekly alongside other leaders in the classrooms to help the kids learn about God through Bible lessons, activities, and small group time. SGLs serve weekly to build consistency within the classroom for the kids so that we can create a safe place to build relationships with the families and help teach their kids about God! Keep reading for important resources and training for TI Small Group Leaders, Emcees, and Teachers.
TI CURRICULUM
We use Hyfi curriculum for our Kindergarten-Third Graders. Hyfi is a weekly Bible curriculum that equips the next generation to discover their identity in Christ.
Our 4th and 5th graders attend TI45 in which we use a topical-based curriculum that allows for kids to engage in small group in a deeper way and to experience worship each week in the gathering alongside our church.
CLASSROOM BASICS
Teach the Curriculum as you care for the kids in your class throughout the service. Follow the leader guide and curriculum provided.
Use positive redirection and pray with the child if there are behavior issues. Do not put children in time-out or yell. Ask staff for assistance if needed.
Never be alone with a child: don’t enter the bathrooms with the kids and do not accept any children unless there are two volunteers present in the room.
During Small Group Time, kids get to take what they learned during the Bible Lesson Time and Activity Time, and dig deeper! No matter the age, small group time is designed to build relationships and create space for a deeper understanding of the Bible Lesson and its implications on children’s lives. Small Group time is a time to open the Bible together, read scripture, do crafts, play games, and have conversations that help children grow in their walk with God.
The Emcee will facilitate the All Aboard segment from the stage. Their role is to get the kids excited for the day through callbacks, silly jokes and banter, and be the Treasure Island “Hype Person”. This person is a clear communicator, great with time management, and is on time and ready to serve.
The Teacher will lead the True Bible Account from the stage. They will teach what the story is saying in a clear way for the kids to understand. They will also be in charge of dismissal from the True Bible Account to the True Bible Account Review. There is a an audition process where you will teach a lesson from stage in front of TI Staff. This will be discussed further upon orientation with the volunteer coordinator.
