HOST TEAM VOLUNTEERS

Host Team volunteers play a key role in welcoming new families and making a great first impression for the little ones who attend Grow Zone and the older kiddos who attend Treasure Island. You may help walk new families through Grow Zone or Treasure Island for the first time and make them feel at home at Port City, check children into their classrooms using our iPad system to print their stickers, or partner with parents by building relationships through conversations week in and week out.

Host Team volunteers can serve at the beginning of a service and can catch the majority of the same service in the adult auditorium, or serve the full service hour to answer questions and assist families at the front desks throughout the service. Host Team can serve weekly or every other week. Keep reading for some helpful tips and resources to serve on the Port City Kids Host Team!

PORT CITY KIDS MOVE UP POLICY

Children in Grow Zone move up based on their development from the Babies to the Ones classes: children move to the Cruisers class as they begin to crawl, and to the Ones class as they begin to walk. Children continue to move up based on their development and birthday until they are in the Fours class. Then, they will move up as a class on Move Up Sunday in August—children beginning Kindergarten will move up together as a class to Kindergarten in Treasure Island, and children beginning Kindergarten the following fall will move up together as a class to Pre-K. All current TI children will move up to their next grade level on Move Up Sunday, and rising sixth graders will Move Up to the adult service and our middle school ministry, Tsunami on that day too.

GROW ZONE CLASSROOM RATIOS

Remember that we have child:volunteer ratios at every age in Grow Zone! This allows us to create the most intentional, safe, and engaging environment for the children. Our Port City Kids ratios are as follows:

  • Babies/Cruisers 2:1

  • Ones/Twos 4:1

  • Threes/Fours/PreK 6:1
