John Allen’s Story

I was born with a medical birth defect called Spina Bifida which made it hard growing up to make connections and grow relationally with people because they saw me as a person who was different than them. When I transferred to UNCW in the fall of 2020, it gave me a fresh start and a new way to grow as a person, find community, and grow spiritually. I came to Overflow and immediately felt welcomed in and I left my first night with a sense of feeling seen and loved for who I am as a person and I knew this would be the church I would call home for my time at UNCW. Since then, I have gotten involved by serving on the Welcome Team on Sunday mornings, the Host Team for Overflow on Tuesdays, a Production Intern for Student Ministries here at Port city, and co-leading a high school small group for Ripple Effect. I am honored to call Port City Community Church home and I am excited to be part of what God is doing through the church and all the ministries here! I will be forever grateful that I get to call this church my home and the people here my family.
