OUR POSTURE
1) Think Long Term
Disaster recovery can span months, even years, and we are committed to a long term approach that will see our neighbors in Western NC back on their feet and flourishing. Because of our own experiences with hurricanes, we know firsthand that the work of recovery remains long after the attention and initial energy have faded.
2) Be Helpful, not Central
The communities of Western NC are filled with skilled, hard working, and resourceful people. They know better than we do what their community needs, so by following the direction of their local leadership, we affirm their inherent dignity and the image of God within them.
3) Partner Well
Similarly to being helpful, but not central, we recognize that other organizations are far more prepared and capable of coordinating disaster relief efforts than we are. We seek out and maintain long term relationships with these organizations, and we benefit from their expertise.

HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE TODAY
During a disaster response, what’s actually helpful is constantly evolving. Check out the opportunities below for how you can help today.
Pray
Continue to pray for all of those affected by Hurricane Helene - for the continued rescue efforts, for those in need of help, and for the endurance of all those committed to restoring these communities. At our hurricane response panel, Wilmington Campus Pastor Clay Everett led us in a time of guided prayer, which you may also participate in by tapping the button below.
Give Financially
Financial assistance is the number one resource we hear requested from organizations on the ground. We provide regular, ongoing financial support to our partner, Convoy of Hope, and then when the Hurricane hit, we made an additional contribution to both Convoy of Hope and Samaritan’s Purse out of our general budget. If you wish to support these efforts, you may contribute financially at the button below.
We must remain open handed with our desire to participate in relief & discern what is actually helpful.
RESPONSE PANEL & PRAYER
On Monday, October 7, we hosted a Hurricane Response Panel to discuss our posture in greater detail and to learn from professionals with direct disaster response experience. We concluded the evening with a time of guided prayer for those affected by Hurricane Helene.
SUPPLY DRIVE
With only 48 hours notice, our people showed up on Sunday Oct. 6 and filled 35 pallets - that’s two tractor trailers - worth of relief supplies!
