You Have Searched

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.” Psalm 139:1-4

Insight

When was the last time you truly felt known? Like someone saw into the deepest parts of you and said, "You matter"? For many of us, it’s a rare and precious feeling. We crave that deep connection, but often we feel isolated, misunderstood, and distant—not just from others, but from God.

But what if I told you that God knows you intimately? Every detail of your life, every quirk, every flaw. Think about that. God isn’t just aware of your existence—He knows you. That’s mind-blowing, right? But here’s the kicker: how well do you know Him?

Coming to know God is a journey, not a destination. It’s not about ticking off boxes of religious duties, but about engaging in a living, breathing relationship. In any relationship, intimacy grows through time spent together, through listening and talking, and through shared experiences.

But let’s be real—trusting God isn’t always easy. There are areas in my life where I struggle to let go. Maybe you do too. Maybe it’s because of how we think about God. We might see Him as a distant judge, a stern taskmaster, or someone who’s just too busy to care about our little problems. Those misconceptions can build walls that block us from truly knowing and trusting Him.

Yet, in those moments of doubt, I remind myself of His character. He is good, He is loving, He is faithful. Romans 8:28 tells us that “in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Even when we can’t see the full picture, He’s at work.

So, ask yourself: where do you struggle to trust? Is it in your finances, your relationships, or your future? What are the lies you’ve believed about God in those areas? Challenge those lies with the truth of who He is.

Knowing God is a journey filled with ups and downs, but it’s in the seeking, the wrestling, and the trusting that we find Him. And in finding Him, we find ourselves truly known, truly loved, and truly alive.

Dive deeper. Ask the hard questions. Trust even when it’s tough. Because God is not just a part of your story—He is the author, and He’s writing something beautiful with your life.

Reflection

  • How are you coming to know God?

  • Are there areas where you struggle to trust because of how you think about God?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, as I seek to know You more deeply, help me to overcome the doubts and misconceptions that cloud my understanding of Your boundless love and wisdom. Grant me the grace to trust in Your plan, especially in areas where I struggle with fear and uncertainty. May Your truth illuminate my path, and may I grow in faith, knowing that Your ways are higher and Your purposes are perfect. Amen.
