Serve others and work toward reconciliation. Are you yearning for peace? Keep your heart pure. We want God’s heart to be our heart. With this in mind, we’ve created a resource that helps you pray through The Beatitudes, and reflect on the character traits of a Christ-follower listed in it.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:3

Lord, when I think I am self-sufficient, help me remember that I desperately need you. Rid me of pride. May I not make much of myself but let everything I do point others to you. Amen.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. - Matthew 5:4

Lord, in my hour of mourning, you bring me comfort and strength. May I remember that even though sadness can carry on through the night, your joy will arrive in the morning. Amen.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. - Matthew 5:5

Lord, teach me to be humble and gentle like you. You served and loved others with humility. Teach me to see gentleness as a powerful force that makes a difference in the world. Amen.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. - Matthew 5:6

Lord, help me hunger and thirst for you and your righteousness, and I will never be empty. All my desires find their fulfillment in you. Fill me with grace and the power of your Word. Amen.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. - Matthew 5:7

Lord, you are a gracious God who has shown me forgiveness and boundless love. Because you extended your hand toward me, may I show mercy and grace to those around me. Amen.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. - Matthew 5:8

Lord, create in me a pure heart. Shine a light on the areas of my heart riddled with darkness. Let that exposure be met with the courage to address these struggles. Amen.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. - Matthew 5:9

Lord, in a world riddled with strife and unrest, may I pursue peace with others. Allow me to face conflict with compassion while fighting for understanding. Where hate resides, I yearn to bring Your love. Amen.

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Lord, many people around the world, face real persecution and harm for your name. May they not lose hope and faith but persevere. Strengthen your Church, and sustain us through the power of your great name. Amen.
